A Little Man, A Big Adventure

"The Hobbit", written by J.R.R. Tolkien, is the prelude to his acclaimed "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. It's about Bilbo Baggins, a Hobbit (A small creature (Two to four feet tall mostly) with hair on his/her feet as well as his/her head), who is visited one day by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, who tells him he will embark on a great adventure (This might startle Bilbo: Hobbits aren't one for adventure). Later, after Gandalf leaves, Bilbo is visited by thirteen dwarfs (Dwain and Balin, Kili and Fili, Dori, Nori, and Ori, Oin and Goin, Bifur, Bofur and Bombur, and Thorin). They tell him of the quest (To reclaim a kingdom) and , with Bilbo, set off. Along the way, Bilbo is captured by goblins, finds a golden ring (Which will play a part in "The Lord of the Rings"), plays riddles with and is almost eaten by a slimy creature named Gollum, is carried by giant eagles, pokes fun at would-be-dwarf eating spiders, meets a giant that can transforms into a bear, escapes from Elves by floating in a barrel, finds out how to kill a dragon, and takes part in a war(Sounds like a lot of adventure for a creature who doesn't like it, eh?). After his experience, Bilbo returns to his home with a load of treasure (Given to him to by Thorin, the king of the kingdom he helped claim) and writes a book about his journey. After that, it seems as though peace has fallen upon the Baggins family, but not for long...
